What Website Hosting Should Actually Include

By Rick Neuman

Ask ten business owners what their website hosting includes and nine will say 'I'm not really sure.' That's a problem, because the difference between bare server space and real managed hosting only becomes obvious the day something goes wrong.

Bare hosting gives you a folder on a server. Everything else — updates, security patches, backups, performance — is your job. Most small business owners don't want that job and shouldn't have it.

Proper managed hosting should include automatic backups (and actual restores when needed), security monitoring and updates, an SSL certificate, and speed optimization. Your site should load fast on a phone on a bad connection, not just on office Wi-Fi.

Where to start

It should also include a human. When the contact form stops working or the site goes down, you need someone who answers and fixes it — not a ticket queue and a knowledge base article.

Uptime and speed aren't just technical metrics. Google factors them into rankings, and customers factor them into trust. A site that's down or slow is quietly costing you business.

Our hosting is built around exactly this: your site stays fast, secure, backed up, and updated — and when you need a change, you call us and it gets done.

Not sure which service you need? Start with the problem.

Tell us what you are trying to improve. We will help you determine the most practical next step, even if that means starting smaller than expected.
